Logistics Automation - TopOnion
At TopOnion, a large part of the daily logistics operation revolves around trucks delivering or collecting goods. Every truck must be registered and weighed before it can continue onto the site.
Together with software integrator Atumind, this process was further automated. Using ANPR cameras and Alphatronics terminals, the entire process from arrival at the weighbridge to the unloading zone is handled as automatically as possible.

Automating the existing setup
When a truck enters the site, its license plate is automatically recognized by the ANPR camera. Based on this recognition, the registration process is initiated, and the truck proceeds onto the existing weighbridge.
Using the screen on the terminal, the driver can then identify themselves and complete the required steps. After weighing, the truck can proceed to the appropriate zone on the site. The same automated process is repeated when exiting the premises.
The existing weighbridges and barriers were retained. The new hardware and software were integrated as an extension to further automate the surrounding process.

Automatic recognition at the unloading area
Further along the site, ANPR also plays an important role. Additional cameras have been installed at the unloading area to automatically identify arriving trucks.
This identification is used within the Atumind software to start the unloading process. As a result, the conveyor system inside the truck is directly linked to TopOnion's logistics process, reducing the need for manual actions between arrival, registration and unloading.

Fast from order to installation
One of the biggest challenges of this project was the short lead time. TopOnion wanted the new installation to be operational as quickly as possible.
At Alphatronics, we work from a standardized pedestal design, which means we do not have to start from scratch for every project. The base structure is already in place and can then be equipped with the hardware required for each specific application. For TopOnion, this allowed us to quickly integrate the displays, cameras and other components.
This standardized approach significantly reduced the construction time and helped us complete the project within a short timeframe, ready for installation.
