Parking at Residence Inn Ghent

Given its location next to the Planet Group Arena, there was a need for a shared parking lot with clear access control. The chosen system operates ticketlessly via license plate recognition and allows each hotel to operate independently.

The installation of this impressive project was carried out by Park&Go

The Parking Challenge

Its location next to the Planet Group Arena results in high parking demand, especially on game and event days. Because the parking lot is visible on Google Maps, non-guests also frequently drive in.

The shared entrances and exits for the three hotels required a well-thought-out approach.

The solution

At the control kiosk at the entrance, visitors select the hotel they are visiting. From that moment on, the system automatically applies that hotel’s rules, rates, and settings. Each hotel:

  • has its own secure management portal
  • sees only its own data
  • operates completely independently, without coordination with the other hotels

Here's how it works

  • Visitors with a parking duration of less than one hour are automatically charged nothing.
  • Hotel guests can pay for parking at the payment kiosk in the hotel; their license plate serves as their access pass.
  • Other visitors pay at the payment terminal when exiting.
  • The system is completely ticketless and operates on the basis of license plate recognition.

How does building access work?

In addition to parking access, Residence Hotel also requested secure access to the building. Alphatronics therefore installed a StrongLine kiosk at the entrance, featuring:

  • a badge reader for permanent residents and staff
  • an intercom for visitors, allowing the front desk to grant access remotely

Parking and building access are managed from the same platform.
